Conventional complete dentures. Once all the teeth are lost and gums heal for at least for a period of six months or more, denture fabrication can be initiated. In order to fabricate a well fitting and aesthetic denture, five clinical sessions will be required: initial impression, final impression with custom trays, and registration of jaw relationship, teeth try-in and final delivery. After final delivery session, patient will be instructed about denture maintenance and importance of follow up appointments. Every new denture needs to be adjusted and a period of eight weeks for adaptation and denture settlement is very crucial.
Implant supported complete dentures:
Implant Stabilized Removable Dentures
Immediate complete dentures. Once a clinical decision is made to remove all remaining teeth, patients may retain front teeth until the final denture is fabricated and ready to be delivered. After series of impression making and trying sessions, teeth will be removed and denture will be in place immediately. Patients are typically are instructed to retain denture overnight for proper clot formation. Since the bone and gum tissue recede after extractions, denture will not seat and fit as accurately as before and secondary reline procedure will be necessary. After a complete healing, new denture may be required.
Partial dentures:
Metal or acrylic supported removable dentures can be used to replace missing teeth.
